Bodmin Dog Training was set up to provide dog owners with a service that deals with dogs that need pet training, have behavioural problems or owners who enjoy various dog related activities. The club aims to bring a recognised, first class training and behaviour service that allows veterinary surgeons to safely refer clients to. The club trains to Kennel Club Good Citizen dog scheme allowing clients to work through levels in a nationally recognised scheme.
All training uses positive reinforcement only and works on building the bond between dog and owner.
Good Citizen Dog Scheme
The scheme is the largest dog
training scheme in the UK and has bee in operation since 1992. It is
open to all dogs, young or old, pedigree or crossbreed.
It provides a quality standard of
training for dogs and owners, incorporating many obedience exercises with emphasis on good
everyday manners and a well adjusted dog.
Dog owners of any fitness level or disability can take part including children. The scheme is non competitive and emphasis is placed on standard of achievement with rosettes and certificates provided upon passing each level.
A friendly group environment where the puppy can socialize while learning the basics of manners and work towards their Kennel Club Puppy award.
This is the highest level offered by the Kennel Club which teaches advanced skills leading towards achieving a Kennel Club Gold Award.
New members and graduates from puppy classes join Bronze Level where the dog is taught basic obedience and manners working towards the Kennel Club Bronze Award.
These classes build on the skills learnt previously and developing them to lead to an obedient well rounded dog. This Intermediate class works towards Kennel Club Silver Level.
For dogs that have completed the Kennel Club Awards, the club offers a higher level class working towards clubs own Platinum and Platinum Plus awards. These Levels are a fun mix of obedience skills and touch upon ideas from Competitive Obedience
One to One
For dogs that may struggle in a class environment, one to one consultations and training sessions can be offered

Classes take place throughout the day on Saturdays and Tuesdays. The venue is a boxing gym located on Normandy Way in Bodmin with roadside parking.
